1. Challenge Yourself: Learn a Language

At the moment, I am attempting to teach myself Dutch since I have family over there. Not going to lie, it is pretty tricky. Yet, so rewarding! I'd really recommend it as it feels so satisfying when you can actually speak a little and understand when others are talking in that language. If you want to give Dutch a go or any other language, I'd recommend making a little vocabulary book that you can refer to; watching lots of films or listening to the radio in that language; and finding an app such as duolingo so that you can practice on the go.

2. Spend Time with Friends: Go on a Picnic!

This is one of my favourite things to do in Summer. Find a park, public garden or green and set up an array of treats and snacks that you can munch on throughout the day on a cosy blanket. Take lots and lots of sunscreen and chat until the sun goes down. Its a lovely way to just relax in the sunshine without spending too much money.

3. Sport: Running and Cycling

Become a healthier, fitter and stronger version of yourself by getting into the habit of doing some exercise. Personally, I love running. I have been jogging regularly now for about a year and I love it so much. It is a brilliant way to escape from everyone and everything that is worrying you and forget all your problems. Make yourself a motivational music playlist and grab your trainers! Trust me, you won't regret it. As well as running, I adore cycling. Bike rides are so much fun whether they are with family, friends or even alone, helping you to discover new, exciting places and explore the outdoors. Remember to wear a helmet! If running and cycling aren't your thing, tennis, badminton and swimming are brilliant options for Summer. Plus if you are on the beach, maybe give yoga and volleyball a go.

4. Explore: Day Trips

If you are willing to spend a little bit of money on a train ticket and are a keen traveller, this one is definitely for you. Organise a group of friends together and pick somewhere not too far that you can easily take the train to, this could be an well-known city or a sunny beach. Something that I would recommend is that none of you have been there before! Plus, remember to take a camera so you can show everyone back home how beautiful it was. Pick a restaurant to go to for lunch beforehand by looking online, research if there are any parks or public gardens that you can take a picnic to or have some fish and chips on the beach. Perhaps if you are visiting a city, you could go to some art galleries or museums or if you are at the beach, take a swimming costume or bikini and go swimming. As well as this, find out what you can do in your local area. Do some research online and learn whether there are any summer courses that you could take, if there are any art galleries or museums that could inspire you or if there are any special events in the Summer like music festivals or food markets and take action. You may discover something new right on your doorstep!

5. Fuel Your Future: Work Experience

During Summer you have time. Something that I certainly have no control over during the busy school terms. Take this opportunity to do something that you can put on your CV. Network with people in a career that you may desire whether that be through your parents, parent's friends or friend's parents or with people that you meet at career's fairs or events and sort out some work experience. This is a fantastic way to learn new skills, discover whether that career path is for you and meet new people. Even if you get the opportunity to try out something that you think you'll hate, take it. You may actually love it, you never know! Plus, if you want to earn some money try and get a Summer job at a restaurant, shop, cafe or maybe even as a receptionist in an office. Just create a CV and try as many places as possible.
